The USCGC Kimball WMSL 756 is a highly capable and modern vessel operated by the United States Coast Guard (USCG). Classified as a National Security Cutter, it falls under the WMSL (Widebody Medium-Endurance Cutters, Long) designation. These ships are designed for general ocean going use with an emphasis on command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.
Key features of the USCGC Kimball include a flight deck capable of operating a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter or an MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter, as well as advanced radar and sensor systems that enable it to detect and track both airborne and maritime targets at long ranges. It is also equipped with a stern launch and recovery system for the deployment of small boats and inflatable crafts.
The USCGC Kimball, along with its sister ships in the National Security Cutter fleet, are instrumental in enforcing U.S. law enforcement regulations, conducting search and rescue missions, protecting living marine resources, countering drug smuggling, migrant smuggling, and other illegal activities, and providing humanitarian assistance and disaster relief when needed.
