USCGC Munro WMSL 755 (U.S. Coast Guard)
The USCGC Munro (WMSL 755) is a United States Coast Guard national security cutter, named after Medal of Honor recipient Lieutenant John C. Munro. It is the seventh ship in the Legend-class of cutters, which are the largest class of ships built for the U.S. Coast Guard since the High Endurance Cutters of the 1930s and 1940s. The Munro was commissioned into service on June 25, 2016.
These national security cutters are designed to conduct a variety of maritime operations, including drug interdiction, migrant interdiction, search and rescue, law enforcement, and homeland security patrols, making them versatile assets in the Coast Guard’s fleet. The Munro, specifically, is equipped with a flight deck and hangar capable of accommodating a MH-65 Dolphin or MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter for extended range missions.
With a length of 418 feet (127 meters), a beam of 54 feet (16.5 meters), and a top speed of over 28 knots, the USCGC Munro WMSL 755 is a formidable vessel in the U.S. Coast Guard’s efforts to secure and protect American waters and interests.
