The largest in the Dalmata series, this cup gets its name from the dotted glaze of the very first prototype – “Dalmata” being Spanish for Dalmatian dogs.     The form is based on one of the first pieces I ever threw on the wheel, later adapted in my moldmaking experiments. Adding a handle transformed its proportions, giving it the same capacity as cappuccino cups used in cafés.   

The handle’s quirky, not-quite-perfect circle came about by happy accident and became a signature feature, adding character and charm to each piece.     

This design has since inspired smaller versions: the Dalmata S and Dalmata XS.
