The Special Operations Command Joint Forces Command (SOCCJFC), under the United States Army, is a unified combatant command responsible for organizing, training, and deploying special operations forces worldwide. Established in 2004 as part of the Department of Defense’s reorganization effort to improve special operations capabilities, SOCCJFC coordinates operations between the various branches of the military that engage in special operations, including the Army Special Operations Command, Air Force Special Operations Command, Navy Special Warfare Command, and Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command. The primary objectives of SOCCJFC are to enhance interoperability among special operations forces, facilitate joint planning, and conduct complex, high-risk, and time-sensitive missions that require unique capabilities, such as unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, direct action, counterterrorism, counterinsurgency, information operations, and security force assistance.
