The USCGC Daniel Tarr WPC 1136 is a coastal patrol vessel operated by the United States Coast Guard (USCG). Part of the Sentinel-class cutters, it was named after Daniel Tarr, a decorated USCG officer who served during World War II.
The 154-feet (47 meters) long ship, launched in 2018, is primarily used for law enforcement duties in coastal waters and rivers, as well as search and rescue missions. It has a top speed of around 26 knots (48 kilometers per hour).
The vessel is equipped with advanced technology such as the Remote Control-Operated Unmanned surface vessel (RCSV), which allows for extended mission duration without risking crew members in potentially dangerous situations.
Additionally, the Daniel Tarr WPC 1136 is designed to accommodate a helicopter on its flight deck, enhancing its capabilities for long-range operations. The ship’s primary role is to safeguard U.S. waters from illegal activities like drug smuggling and migrant trafficking.
